This weekend, the Rocky Mountain Reining Horse Association hosted the Summer Slide at the National Western Stock Show Events Center in Denver.
With the October issue on it’s way to the printer, Managing Editor Jen Paulson and I decided it would be a good “field trip” for the both of us.
It was so nice to be in the “showing atmosphere.” The last show I attended was the AQHA World Championship Show, and because I was working throughout the show, I wasn’t able to watch as many classes as I would’ve liked. The Summer Slide was a nice change of pace, and it was great to take in the classes from rookie to non-pro.
Because I still haven’t found a place to ride just yet, it was also a great opportunity for me to simply be around horses. It also reignited my desire to take reining lessons. While living in Texas, I was taking regular reining lessons; I didn’t realize how much I missed those lessons until this morning.
However, thanks to a suggestion from Jen, and a very nice trainer from Kiowa, I may have found just the place.
Also, I had one pretty great purchase at the show, but you’ll have to stay tuned for that later!
