Have you read our longevity piece in the November issue? The one with world-class trainer Jason Martin and stellar Quarter Horse Harley D Zip? Jason used 16-year-old Harley to illustrate great tips for keeping an aged horse honest and happy in the arena.
Jason walked the talk yesterday, as he piloted Harley to a Congress win in senior Western riding. It was a sentimental performance, because it was Harley’s last open pattern at the Congress. He’ll be retired from open competition after the AQHA World Show next month.
And Jason’s success didn’t stop there. He placed second on 11-year-old mare Vital Signs Are Good (our November 2010 “We’d Love to Own” horse), and he piloted 10-year-old Show Diva to a fourth-place finish.
