After spending the last four days at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, I’m now in the middle of Operation Move Onyx to Colorado. My amazing parents hauled Onyx from her happy field in western Pennsylvania to Columbus to meet me, pick me up, and start our cross country journey.
With my trusted horse safe in a horse motel and my parents by my side, I’m really counting my blessings. I just spent the last four days in one of my favorite places on Earth, and I got to call it work.
To show you a little glimpse of how lucky I am, I had our friend Roger Gollehon (husband of Team H&R member Robin Gollehon) take this photo of me. Roger and I were chatting in front the stall of his and Robin’s stallion, Good Cowboy Margarita, on the Congress’s Million Dollar Stallion Avenue. I had spent hours with Robin and Roger, and I got to know “Cowboy”, the first stallion and the first 3-year-old to be named the National Snaffle Bit Association’s Horse of the Year.
So Roger kindly snapped this photo of me, on my first big work trip, from my first real job in the “nag rag” business. And what’s that shiny object on my sweater? Well, it’s my H&R name tag of course, made by Vogt Silversmith’s, that I’m lucky enough to wear around events proudly. Pretty cool for my first gig, right? It will be tough to beat my first-ever business trip. I’m one lucky girl.
