The Half Lease

By Assistant Editor Julie Preble

This is a topic that’s of personal interest to me. A half lease will probably be my next step toward full-time horse ownership. But, I honestly don’t know much about the half-lease process or what it entails.

My only experience with leasing a horse was for 4-H when I was in high school. We exchanged $20 and a handshake to make it official, but something tells me that wouldn’t hold up today.

So what better way to research it than to write an article about it? For our October 2012 issue, I’ll be doing just that.

And that has me wondering, how many of you have half-leased a horse?whether you were the lessee or leaser? I’d love to hear about your experience! Feel free to comment below or e-mail me at jpreble@aimmedia.com.
