The amateur reining finals at the AQHA World Show kept spectators on the edges of their seats--particularly the two horses that tied for first place. Carrie Von Uhlit (lower photo), riding Ricochet San, and Samantha Griffin (upper photo), riding Dun Playin Tag, each marked a 221 in the round, beating the next-best placewinner by 4.5 points.

In the runoff, both young women rode aggressively, and their horses showed immense skill and heart--each pair beat their initial score. In the end, Von Uhlit and Ricochet San took the gold trophy, marking 225.5 points. Griffin earned the reserve title with a 223.5.

A side note: the name Dun Playin Tag might ring a bell with reining fans. Pro Duane Latimer rode the horse to earn a bronze medal in the individual reining competition at the World Equestrian Games earlier this year.
