half halt weekly tip

A half-halt is a momentary application of all three primary natural aids—the seat, legs, and hands—to rebalance the horse and rock his weight back onto his haunches a little more. Because a horse naturally carries about 55 percent of his weight on his forehand, yet power and athleticism come from his hindquarters, this maneuver will prepare him to use more of his back end.
