NCHA $5 Million Rider Kenny Platt closed out a banner finals day on March 27, 2026, in the 5/6 Open Classic at the 2026 NCHA Super Stakes, with three horses finishing in the top five of the class. Leading the charge was LBR Hangem (Dual Reyish x Hangem High Pep), affectionately known as “Shotty,” who closed out the class with a huge score of 228 to earn $32,696.12 for owners Solo Select, Don Ham, and Carpenter Farms.
Topping the Charts
The finals of the 5/6 Open Classic were stacked with champions, all eyeing the top spot. Among the powerful field were the 2025 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, Rollz Eh; the 2025 Run For A Million Cutting Horse Challenge Champion, Bella Louella; and several other futurity and derby champions.
But Shotty came in determined to leave his mark.
“It was a great day,” Platt said. “The horses that I showed in the 5/6 division are just such a great group of horses.”
Platt, who had four horses return in the finals, was first in the draw on Too Hot To Tagg (Hashtags x Too Hot). The pair held the top spot with a 223 through both cattle sets until the final horse, LBR Hangem at draw 22, made his move.
After marking a 216.5 in the first round, a 220 in the second round, and a 219 in the semifinals, Shotty pushed to the top of the leaderboard with a 228 in the finals to take home the championship.
LBR: Lets Break Records
The 2020 stallion adds this win to his impressive résumé, pushing his lifetime earnings north of $450,000. Shotty has excelled in the 5/6 class, accumulating titles including 2026 Abilene Spectacular Champion, 2025 NCHA Summer Spectacular Open Co-Champion, 2025 NCHA Super Stakes Open Co-Reserve Champion and 2025 Breeders Invitational Reserve Champion, among others.
“That horse is just such a great horse,” Platt said. “I just feel like I always need to get up there and cut some cows that I like and do my job because he’s such a dominant horse. He can just make things happen.”
