Sidney Rasmussen and Gage Moore captured the Cinch #13 Gold Shootout championship at the 2026 Cinch RSNC North Central Regional Super Sort on May 16 in Loveland, Colorado. The duo sorted 30 head through the gate in 133.86 seconds to earn $5,760.
Despite living thousands of miles apart, Rasmussen and Moore have teamed up more than a dozen times—and every run together brings a new adventure.
Golden Horse Power
Moore, from Barnesville, Georgia, knows his way around the Gold Shootout winner’s pen. He took home the Priefert Open Gold Shootout title at the January Southeast Regional Super Sort in Perry, Georgia, aboard the same standout horse he rode in Loveland: My Cat Boo (Lil Catbaloo x Jalapuno), affectionately known as “Sleigh.”
Rasmussen, of Park City, Utah, turned to her reliable partner, LBR Kat (Kit Kat Sugar x Ashado), who she calls “LBR.” The 2019 gelding has carried her to the winner’s circle multiple times and stepped up again in the Gold Shootout class.

Surviving to Succeed
Faced with a tricky herd, the team kept their strategy simple: sort from the outside and avoid pushing too many cattle to the gate at once. But as any sorter knows, even the best plans can change quickly once you step into the herd.
“We kind of went into the first run like, ‘Okay, we’ve got to go. It’s going to be a nine- or 10-head race,'” Rasmussen explained. “Then, the second round was a survival round and in the last round there were a lot of no times so we decided to get a time and stay smooth.”
Moore can confirm the survival part of round two—he was living it.
“She tried to run me over like three times,” he said.
Those close calls came during the second round, when the first cow they needed to cut was notorious for bringing the entire herd charging toward the gate.
Rasmussen offered her own colorful version of events.
“The cows in this herd really liked to come to the gate,” she said. “Well, I got the first cow out and Gage’s life flashed before his eyes. He was screaming.”
Despite the chaos—or maybe because of it—the team’s partnership is as solid as it is entertaining.
“We ride great together and it’s comical when we do it too,” Rasmussen said.
Rasmussen’s success in Loveland extended well beyond the Gold Shootout pen. The Gold Shootout title was just one highlight of a successful week for Rasmussen, as she also topped the EQN Sports #18 Rated Youth Championship alongside her sister, Sadey, adding another $432 to her Loveland earnings.
