Ordway, Colorado, competitor Debbie Crafton continued her dominance at the NRCHA Hackamore Classic, capturing her 5th consecutive Non Pro Hackamore Classic championship during the July 18 finals at the 2026 NRCHA Hackamore Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Riding her standout 2021 mare, SJR Sumkinda Mist (SJR Diamond Mist x Sumkinda Pinkcadilac), Crafton earned the title and more than $10,000 in the class.
“She’s been good to me,” Crafton said. “She’s just getting so solid and so fun to show. And her brother, SJR SumKindaRockstar (Smooth As A Cat x SumKinda PinkCaddilac) was like that. He was just a nice horse as a three year old and then just kept building momentum and getting better and better and better. And that’s what she has done. So it’s awesome.”
Crafton previously won the Non Pro Hackamore Classic with SJR SumKindaRockstar in 2022.
Results from the 2026 NRCHA Hackamore Classic
Crafton finished the four-phase class with a cumulative score of 659 after posting a 147 in the rein work prelims, 146.5 in the herd work prelims, 148.5 in the fence work prelims and a 217 in the fence work finals. She finished 10 points ahead of the reserve champion.
Despite entering the finals with a comfortable lead, Crafton knew anything could happen down the fence. Rather than worrying about the scoreboard, she focused on making the best run possible.
“I was just like, ‘I’m going to go in here. I’m going to be smart about this cow and we’re going to make a run.'”
The strategy paid off.
“She has no bad thoughts in the pen,” Crafton praised the mare. “She is 100% with me every trip. It’s a true team effort when we enter the pen. I count on her and she counts on me and we just come together.”
A Historic Fifth Consecutive Title
Tulsa has become familiar ground for Crafton, who has now won the Non Pro Hackamore Classic five years in a row.
“My friend Annie Reynolds and I were tied with four (Non Pro Hackamore Classic) wins and I thought it would be fun if I could somehow pull it off and get another title,” Crafton said. “I really wanted this win for my mare because she deserves it, but I also wanted to just try to get that fifth win consecutive for myself.”
Her five straight championships include:

- 2022 — SJR SumKindaRockstar (Smooth As A Cat x SumKinda Pinkcadilac)
The victory comes one year after another milestone. At the 2025 NRCHA Hackamore Classic, Crafton surpassed $1 million in NRCHA lifetime earnings, becoming just the fourth woman inducted into the NRCHA Million Dollar Club and only the second female non-pro to reach the mark.
Annie Reynolds remains the only other female non-pro member of the NRCHA Million Dollar Club. Reynolds won the Non Pro Hackamore Classic in 2000, 2001, 2008 and 2011.
Success Continued Throughout the Week
Crafton was already having a winning week long before she rode into the hackamore fence finals.
Aboard the 2017 gelding Foundloveathooters (Smooth As A Cat x Rey Lena Rey), she claimed the Non Pro Bridle Spectacular championship with a cumulative score of 437.5 after marking a 148 in the herd work, 143.5 in the rein work and 146 in the fence work. The win earned $4,922.40, and she added another $2,760 in the Non Pro Bridle class.
“He’s still so good in the pen,” she said. “He just likes to horse show.”
Foundloveathooters also carried her son, Tucker Crafton, to championships in the Intermediate and Limited Non Pro Boxing Spectacular and the Intermediate and Limited Non Pro Boxing Championship, along with reserve championships in the Non Pro Boxing and Non Pro Boxing Spectacular. Tucker earned more than $7,600 during the boxing competition.
“He knows Tucker and he takes care of him,” she explained. “Then he knows when I step on and it’s time to turn it up. He is beyond special. There are just no words to describe what he means to me.”
