Ryan Gallentine and Steven Mattson’s One Ata Time (One Time Pepto x Hip Hip Sue Rey) capped a week of cow horse action by sweeping the Open Bridle divisions, July 18 at the 2026 NRCHA Hackamore Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The pair earned more than $30,800 while claiming the Open Bridle Spectacular, Intermediate Open Bridle Spectacular, Open Bridle, Intermediate Open Bridle and one of five coveted qualifying spots for the 2027 The Run For A Million.
“It was all the horse,” Gallentine said of the 2017 stallion. “He’s taught me a lot, I can’t say enough about him. Whatever I ask him to do, right or wrong, he’s going to do it.”
A Dominant Performance
Gallentine, from Belle Plaine, Minnesota, and One Ata Time finished with a composite score of 665.5 after marking a 216 in the herd work, 221.5 in the rein work and a 227 in the fence finals.
Draw 28 in a deep Open Bridle field, Gallentine knew plenty of strong competitors remained to go after him. Rather than worrying about the leaderboard, he kept his focus on executing one clean run.
“I was just going to do it with my cow,” he said. “Just try to listen to the cow. Try not to make something happen, just keep it simple. When the cow told me he was ready to go, we left.”
The strategy paid off. Their huge 227 fence finals score gave the pair a three-point advantage over the rest of the field and secured the championship.

Years in the Making
One Ata Time has been with Gallentine since late in the stallion’s 2-year-old year, and the partnership has only grown stronger over time.
“It seemed like early in his career, he just kept getting better and better,” Gallentine said. “Every time that light was on him, he stepped up even more.”
With more than $30,800 earned in Tulsa, One Ata Time’s lifetime earnings climbed past $143,000, adding another milestone to an already accomplished career.
A Ticket to The Run For A Million
The Open Bridle also served as the first qualifying event for the 2027 Run For A Million. Qualification was determined solely by rein work and fence work scores, making every maneuver count for riders hoping to earn a spot in one of the biggest events of the year.
For Gallentine, finally securing a qualification carried special meaning because of the horse beneath him.
“It means the most to me just do it for him, do it for the horse,” Gallentine said. “It finally came through for him and reminds everybody that he’s good.”
