Jesse Stanfill and Trevor Hatchett, both of Lexington, Tennessee, topped the US Rider #5 Gold Shootout, splitting $14,392 after sorting 21 head in 194.40 seconds over four rounds at the 2026 Cinch RSNC World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.
Living on a Prayer
The #5 Gold Shootout provides opportunities for lower rated riders to compete in a high-stakes, big payout class, and riders at the 2026 Cinch RSNC World Finals showed up on Gold Shootout day, filling the class. Stanfill and Hatchett, who ride together at Stanfill Performance Horses, run by Reece and Simone Stanfill, had to work hard just to reach the short go, where only six teams made it through clean.
“Round 1, it was seriously, we were living on a prayer,” said Stanfill, a Bronze member of the Cinch RSNC Hall of Fame. “Those cattle were tough. Thankfully, Trevor and I have rode together quite a bit in the past, so we had our game plan.”
Hatchett, who only started competing in Cinch RSNC in 2026, said the plan came down to staying steady rather than forcing a fast time.
“Just don’t blow out,” Hatchett said of that plan. “Get a time and take what they’ll give us.”
Their plan worked. It carried them into the short go, where the draw broke their way, and Stanfill and Hatchett closed it out for the $14,392 win.
A Long Time Coming
“My goal coming in was just to make the top 10,” Stanfill admitted. “I didn’t even care what happened after that,” Stanfill said.
This championship marked not only her first World Finals win, but also her first time ever making it to the championship round, making the nine-hour trip from Tennessee that much more worth it.
She did it all in a class she rarely enters, usually leaving the Gold Shootout classes to her husband to compete in. This year, the #5 and its accessibility for more riders changed her mind.
“I’m a 3, so I’m not having to ride against 7s, 8s and 9s,” Stanfill said. “I have a shot in here.”
