VRH World Championships

The VRH World Championships completed a significant portion of the schedule during the first half of the show, beginning with ranch conformation on Sunday and continuing through Wednesday with ranch cutting, ranch reining, ranch cow work and ranch riding across multiple divisions.

In the senior divisions, Dirty Look (Woody Be Tuff x Sucha Smartlookn Cat), ridden by Ben Baldus of Gainesville, Texas, won the VRH Senior Ranch Cow Work, while TCR Wild Cat (Dual Smart Rey x SR Cat Attack), shown by Lavert Avent of Graham, Texas, finished second. The two returned in the VRH Senior Ranch Reining and reversed positions, with TCR Wild Cat claiming the win and Dirty Look placing second.

Talen Riley Barry of Augusta, Kansas, swept the top two placings in the VRH Youth Ranch Cow Work, winning on Ohh Brother (Brother Jackson x Hickorys One Time) and placing second on Bet On A Playboy (Bet Hesa Cat x Diamondlady Payback), both owned by Jared Barry.

What’s ahead: Ranch trail, additional ranch cow work classes and the marquee ranch riding finals remain on the VRH World schedule before the all-around awards ceremony closes out the show.

Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals

The Ranching Heritage Challenge cutting events produced the largest payouts of the week through the show’s midway point, led by the RHC Open Ranch Cutting. Sparktallica (Metallic Cat x Sparktilion), a 2019 mare shown by Leanne Jetton of Stephenville, Texas, won the class with a score of 222.5 and earned $1,578.75, the largest single-class payout awarded at the show to date. Adeline Bricker of Seymour, Texas, placed second aboard Sparkn (Stevie Rey Von x Quickin) at $1,263.00.

Coming up: Ranch riding, roping events and the RHC Working Ranch Horse classes are still on the schedule.
