In just a few short weeks, I'll be headed to sunny California for the 2014 Pomona Horse Expo!

I'll be your boots on the ground and bring you all the news from the clinician seminars, breed revelation, book corral, and Charles Wilhelm?s Ultimate S.U.P.E.R. Horse Challenge.

Clinicians such as Sandy Collier, Tim Kamura, Jonathan Field, Sharon Camarillo, and Charles Wilhelm are presenting at the expo.

If you could ask any of the above trainers one question, what would that be and who would you ask?

The breed revelation is sure to be interesting. Examples of each breed will be shown in-hand to demonstrate that breed?s strengths and abilities. Breeds included this year are Azteca, Gypsy Vanner, Peruvian, Friesian, Missouri Fox Trotter, BLM mustang, National Plantation Walking Horse, and American Paint Horse.

I'm also looking forward to the book corral. I often review books for this blog, and two authors who have books on my desk just waiting to be reviewed will be at the show. (Maybe I can convince them to sign copies for a giveaway or two!)

Charles Wilhelm?s Ultimate S.U.P.E.R. Horse Challenge is sure to be a source of excitement. The acronym stands for Supple Ultimate Versatility Pleasure Equitation Responsive?all important things!

In this challenge, competitors are timed and judged while completing four events that challenge the communication between horse and rider and also the rider?s horsemanship and riding skills at the walk, trot, and lope.

The four events include cowboy dressage, trail obstacles, and other riding challenges. Other activities tested are jumping, backing through a pattern, rollbacks, working gates, up and down transitions, and cow/mechanical cow work.

I'll be your eyes and ears at the trade show, too, and plan to give you the best behind-the-scenes look at this show that's rivaled only by being there in person.

You?ll be able to follow all the action across our social-media platforms: Facebook (HorseandRider), Twitter (@Horse_and_Rider), and Instagram (HorseandRiderMag) with #PomonaExpo14.

Coverage is brought to you by Horse Expo Pomona, Kensington Protective Products, and HorseLoverz.
