That’s A Wrap: A Review of the 2014 AQHA World Show

We hope you enjoyed our coverage of the 2014 AQHA World Show! Here’s a quick rundown in case you missed out.

A special thanks to our sponsors, Soft-Ride Boots and Farnam Horse Products, for making the #WalkInOurBoots and #FarnamSuperhorse programs possible. We were able to go behind-the-scenes with top professionals in the industry including top trainers, former and current super horse trainers, as well as the behind-the-scenes crews who make the show possible.

In case you missed any of the coverage, you can check out all of our interviews at our YouTube channel. Also be sure to look for fun pictures, posts, hyperlapses, and videos from the event on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Catching Up With the Pros

Craig Johnson won the second ever junior ranch horse pleasure world champion title. He talks about his excitement in being a part of the new sport and the horses that excel in the event in this interview: http://bit.ly/1xKpVyp.

Andrea Fappani is an NRHA $3 Million Rider and decorated horseman. He shared his secrets about mental focus and horse maintenance with us in this interview: http://bit.ly/1xI1t0C.

The Veterans

We caught up with Superhorse exhibitor veterans JD Yates, Corey Cushing, and Bob Avila to figure out just what it takes to become a Farnam Superhorse and how it affects a horse’s marketability.

JD Yates on preparing four Superhorses: http://bit.ly/1xI1t0C.

Bob Avila on 1986 Superhorse Smoke Um Okie: http://bit.ly/1xI1t0C.

The Contender

We caught up with C.R. Bradley to talk about his Superhorse contenders. Im A Tuff Bueno finished fifth in the 2013 race, and before we started, C.R. said, “Let’s talk about Bueno. He’s entered in several events and has a good shot.” Watch the interview here: http://bit.ly/1uO8lHJ.

Finishing third in race, Snap Krackle Pop was another contender whose exhibitor we caught up with earlier in the week. Watch the interview with her exhibitor Blake Weis here: http://bit.ly/1xI1t0C.

The Sleeper

In an unexpected, and happy progression of events, a homebred, -raised, and –trained horse earned the prestigious title of 2014 #FarnamSuperhorse.

Twisters Enola Rey earned 33 points at the AQHA World Championship Show to receive the award, while also claiming the junior tie-down roping world title and reserve in junior heeling. When we caught up with C.R. he was elated, albeit a little shocked, but excited nonetheless. Watch his interview after the big win here: http://bit.ly/1qRmiVF.

The 2009 gelding by Dual Rey and out of Twisters Enola Gay, by Smooth Talkin Man is a family favorite. The gelding’s dam still resides with the Bradleys and has won several world championship titles for C.R., who said she “made my career.” And, the legacy continues. Twisters Enola Rey’s granddam was C.R.’s youth horse and helped him earn AQHYA world champion titles. Though the pair only competed in two final events, the first and second place finishes were enough to edge out English-event horse Dirty Sexy Money for the big win.
