Russell Dilday, Razor Scooter Win Open Hackamore; Clayton Edsall, Hicaliber Cat Win Open Bridle Finals at 2026 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity

Plus: Down Range and Steel Rebel set the marks to beat in the Intermediate Open and Limited Open. Here’s what Saturday’s finalists need to catch them.

Russell Dilday and Razor Scooter won the Open Hackamore with a 448.5, and Clayton Edsall and Hicaliber Cat took the Open Bridle with a 449 Friday, Oct. 23, at the 2026 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Fort Worth, Texas.

Clay Roeser and Down Range (655.5) and Jason Romney and Steel Rebel (650) set the marks to beat in the Intermediate Open and Limited Open. Seven Intermediate-eligible and four Limited-eligible horses get their shot in Saturday’s Open Finals rein and cow work.

All scores are unofficial and subject to NRCHA audit.

Open Hackamore: Razor Scooter, Russell Dilday Dominate

Russell Dilday and Razor Scooter won the Open Hackamore Finals with a 448.5 composite (220.5 rein, 228 cow), worth $18,540.20 for Dilday and his wife, Tanna. The 228 was the high cow work of the finals by three points, and the pair finished five points clear of Jake Barry and Steve Mc Queen (443.5).

It is the second big hackamore title of 2026 for the pair. In February, they won the NRCHA Open Hackamore World Championship at the Celebration of Champions with a 440—a win Dilday called the end of a 10- to 15-year dry spell.

“When something finally goes right, it makes you feel like, well, I was doing it right,” Dilday said at the time. “And you can do it again.”

Razor Scooter (High Brow Cat x Scooters Daisy Dukes x Dual Smart Rey) is a 2021 sorrel stallion bred by Aaron Cook. Dilday bought him as a coming 2-year-old at the Snaffle Bit Futurity sale and started him himself.

“He was unbelievable from day one,” Dilday said in February. “So sweet. So easy.”

The Dildays are standing Razor Scooter at stud, which makes Friday’s title a timely one. Dilday also placed 11th on RBS Sugar Rush (Kit Kat Sugar x Isabellena) for William McElligott Sr.
