In this episode, we talk with Peter DeFreitas about growing up in the reining industry and becoming a NRHA Million Dollar Rider.

This episode of The Ride Podcast where we talk to Peter DeFretias is brought to you by Tribute Equine Nutrition.

Peter DeFreitas is an NRHA professional based in Whitesboro, Texas, where he raises, trains, and competes at the open level while also coaching non-pro riders. Raised in a family deeply rooted in the reining industry, Peter began riding and showing at a young age and grew up learning from some of the sport’s most influential horsemen. With decades of experience and a program known for developing successful young horses, Peter recently crossed the NRHA Million Dollar Rider milestone, a testament to his consistency, horsemanship, and long-term approach to training.

In this episode, we sit down with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Peter DeFreitas to discuss the program behind the success. Peter shares his approach to raising and training horses for futurities and aged events, what it meant to surpass the million-dollar mark, and how the sport of reining has changed—from horse power to show strategy—over the last decade.
