The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is a premier event in Texas, taking place over 18 action-packed days every February. While known for its world-class invitational ProRodeo, this event offers more than just rodeo; it has equine events such as cutting, ranch rodeo, traditional charreada competition, a horse sale, and more (sarodeo.com).

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is a volunteer-led event focused on agriculture and education for Texas youth, supported by more than 6,000 volunteers. Spanning 18 days in February, it offers a packed schedule of free events (with fairgrounds admission), including a cutting and the Exceptional Rodeo for children with special needs, all held inside the historic Freeman Coliseum.

Highlights include the San Antonio Invitational Horse Sale, featuring 60 top ranch and performance horses, and a youth rodeo with 600 contestants vying for $120,000 in scholarships. Don’t miss the traditional charreada, showcasing South Texas heritage. Or explore the Horse Discovery area for educational exhibits and live horse interactions. The fairgrounds are also bustling with shopping, fair food, agricultural exhibits, live music, and a carnival.

Making History

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has been a Texas tradition since 1949. Starting as a livestock show, it quickly grew to include a rodeo, and in 2003, it moved to the Frost Bank Center. Now, 76 years later, it’s one of the largest events in the state, attracting more than 1.5 million attendees annually.
