Knots? Not a Problem, With Brad Barkemeyer’s Tip for Tangle-Free Manes

Brad Barkemeyer’s Tips for the Show Pen Video Series:

Professional horseman Brad Barkemeyer shares his go-to tips for keeping manes and tails long, healthy, and tangle-free. With years of experience in reined cow horse and roping, he knows what it takes to keep his performance horses looking their best. Brought to you by our friends at Absorbine, learn tips of the trade when it comes to mane and tail care.

To prevent tangles, Barkemeyer frequently braids his horses’ manes and tails. He relies on ShowSheen Detangler Gel, applying it before braiding to hydrate the hair and reduce knots. When it’s time to redo the braid, he removes it, applies more gel, and massages it in to keep the hair healthy and manageable. This process helps maintain the braid’s integrity while preventing it from coming undone.

Watch the video below for Barkemeyer’s full routine on detangling, braiding, and mane and tail care.
