The September 2025 Teton Ridge absolute dispersal sale knocked the Western performance horse world off its feet. With record-breaking sales of industry-leading horses, this auction reshaped the way people look at the value of today’s top athletes.
After the sale, the internet was ablaze with questions—why was the dispersal happening, and where were these horses headed next? Many readers were curious, even skeptical, about the homes awaiting these world-class athletes and wanted to know where they might see them again.
Here’s the breakdown of where they’re now.
Third Edge
Third Edge set the sale ablaze from the start. Selling for a jaw-dropping $5.6 million, the 2018 stallion by Metallic Rebel out of Lil Rattler marked the highest sale price, heading home to Solo Select.
Money Well Spent
Third Edge is a force to be reckoned with in the cutting pens. As the 2022 NCHA Horse of the Year, he earned more than $340,000 at major NCHA events. Piloted by NCHA $6 million rider Wes Galyean, the stallion made his name by earning the NCHA Open Derby Championship and NCHA Super Stakes Open Derby Co-Championship as well as countless other titles.
His prowess doesn’t stop there. With only two foal crops on the ground, Third Edge is already in line to be one of the leading cutting horse sires. Although his progeny won’t hit the performance horse pen for a few more years, the industry already has its eyes on them and several of went through the sale, including the highest selling embryo by Third Edge, out of All Spice that sold for an astounding $450,000. His offspring averaged $132,000 throughout the sale.
New Home at Solo Select
When the gavel dropped at $5.6 million all eyes were on the Solo Select table.
“His legacy in the show pen is undeniable, but his true impact will be measured in the generations to come,” said Melanie Smith, owner of Solo Select Horses. “Backed by one of the most powerful pedigrees in the industry, he represents the kind of horse that doesn’t just follow the standard—he raises it.”
Recognizing his value in the breeding shed, Solo Select Horses has added Third Edge to their impressive string of standing stallions and are opening his books for the 2026 breeding season.
Rockin P Ranch Takes Home a Full Trailer
Rocking P Ranch, LLC from Fort Worth, Texas, was the top buyer of the sale, spending $8,043,000 to take home seven horses. Owner Bobby Patton entered the performance horse scene 10 years ago when he was the top buyer at the Rocking W Ranch dispersal sale, and his program has only grown since.
Rocking P Ranch, already home to leading sires Metallic Cat and Spots Hot, now adds top cutting mares All Spice and Twice In Santiago its broodmare band.
All Spice
Sold for $5 million, All Spice was the second-highest sold horse of the day. The 2017 mare by Once In A Blu Boon out of Show Biz Kitty boasts more than $571,000 in lifetime earnings, along with honors like the 2021 NCHA Horse of the Year, 2020 NCHA Open Futurity Championship, and 2023 American Performance Horseman Cutting Championship.
Her value in the breeding barn is just beginning to unfold—her first foals, now three-year-olds, are already turning heads. She sold with an embryo by Smooth Talkin Style.
Twice In Santiago
For $1.8 million, Rocking P Ranch also brought home Twice In Santiago, the fourth highest seller. The 2016 mare by Once In A Blu Boon, out of Twice As Reycy has earned more than $276,000 in the cutting pen. She holds titles like 2020 NCHA Horse of the Year, 2020 Open Derby Reserve Champion, and 2019 Open Futurity Reserve Champion. Twice In Santiago also sold with an embryo by Smooth Talkin Style.
Mare Power
“Rocking P Ranch is thrilled to welcome five of the finest broodmares to our breeding program!” The ranch posted to their Facebook page following the sale. “Their talent, bloodlines, and proven excellence will help us continue raising the next generation of champions.”

Smooth Talkin Style
“Breeders look for stallions that can consistently produce winners, and Smooth Talkin Style has already proven himself in that arena. With this partnership and his move to 6666 Ranch Granbury, we’re excited to see his foals continue to make an impact in the show pen and beyond.”
—Taylor Sheridan, Bosque Ranch Performance Horses
The 2011 stallion by Smooth As A Cat and out of Stylish Play Lena was the third-highest seller, bringing $2 million and heading home with new owners XIT Ranch and Bosque Ranch.
A Cutting Horse Legend
‘Talker’ first hit the cutting pen in 2014, earning the NCHA Futurity Reserve Championship. He went on to secure the 2015 Breeders Invitational Derby Championship and the honor of the 2015 NCHA Horse of the Year under the guidance of NCHA $11 Million Rider Lloyd Cox. Throughout his career, Talker earned $305,284 in the show pen.
A Standout Sire
Though his show record stands tall, Talker’s greatest success may be in the breeding barn. With offspring earnings reaching more than $9.3 million, he ranks among QData’s Top 15 Leading Cutting Sires.
Amongst his influential offspring are Storyteller with more than $383,000 in lifetime earnings, Baby Talk who has earned more than $371,000, and Playful Smoothtalker who has racked up more than $302,000 in accolades.
His offspring dominated the sale, too. His foals out of All Spice topped the charts as the highest-selling weanling and yearling, each selling for $500,000.
The Next Steps
Now standing at the Four Sixes Ranch Granbury stallion station, Smooth Talkin Style’s foals are eligible for major incentives across multiple disciplines, including the Breeder’s Invitational, NRCHA Cow Horse Incentive, NCHA Super Stakes, Royal Crown Roping, and Gold Buckle Futurities. With his proven performance and versatile pedigree, he’s poised to shape the next generation of Western performance horses.
Hesa Dual Bet
Hesa Dual Bet sold for $185,000  to new owners 7K Quarter Horses, owned by Kurt Neff and Solo Select. The 2016 stallion by Bet Hesa Cat, out of RJJ Miss Viagra Pep joins the line of stallions standing at Solo Select.
“He is such a well-built, athletic individual, and he brings tremendous value to our stallion lineup,” Melanie Smith said. “Our vision at Solo is to offer breeders the very best across every Western discipline—stallions who have already proven themselves in the arena. Hesa Dual Bet is exactly that. He’s a proven athlete with all the qualities to succeed as a sire, and we have no doubt he’ll pass that on to his foals. As I told our partner Kurt Neff, this one is truly a safe bet.”
Trained and shown by both NRCHA Million Dollar Rider Matt Koch and $4 Million Rider Corey Cushing, the stallion has earned more than $212,000 in earnings alongside the title of NRCHA Supreme Reined Cow Horse. Known for his versatility across the rein, herd, and fence work, his resume includes the NRCHA World Open Hackamore Reserve Championship, NRCHA Western Derby Championship, and a top 10 finish at the NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman.
His first foals, who arrived in 2024, have already generated high expectations for this talented stallion’s future as a sire.
