As a horse enthusiast, you spend a lot of time in the sun, which can threaten your eyes’ health and vision. (UV rays can contribute to cataract formation, macular degeneration, and even pterygia—fleshy growths on the white of the eye that can extend over the cornea.)

Smart response: In addition to a wide-brimmed hat (or a visor over your helmet), always wear full-coverage, wraparound sunglasses. (There are even models, such as SolarShields and Cocoons, designed to go over regular eyeglasses.)
