Backing and turning with precise and accurate transitions are just a few of the fundamental skills you and your horse need to master to be successful in cutting. When you’re riding your cutting horse, your hands should direct him and your leg aids should back up your rein aids. As you and your horse become more advanced, you will learn how to control your horse’s shoulders and haunches to help him stay on the cow. Everything, however, relates back to those basic fundamental skills.
