Before you can start competing in ranch versatility competitions, you must be able to move your horse’s front end, hind end, and middle independently of each other. There are several skills you and your horse should master. First, your horse should be able to move laterally off both your right and left leg. You also need your horse to do a forehand turn and turn on the haunches in both directions. You should also be able to back him up easily.
