Christensen grew up in Caledonia, Michigan, and started with horses in the Kent County 4-H program. Since then, he has won numerous championships and world titles in the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), Palomino Horse Breeders Association (PHBA), and the American Paint Horse Association (APHA).

Christensen Performance Horses, located in Myakka City, Florida, focuses on Western dressage.
