NRHA professional Matt Palmer, based in Elverson, Pennsylvania, has made a name for himself in the reining world, recently becoming an NRHA Million Dollar Rider. He grew up around horses, riding his father’s reiners, and mother’s pleasure horses, but it wasn’t until a baseball injury in college sidelined his athletic career that he turned his full focus to horses. The switch turned out to be successful as Palmer has piloted his horses to several top finishes and qualified for The Run for a Million in 2022.

In this episode of The Ride, Palmer shares how he made the leap from part-time trainer and baseball player to becoming a fixture in the show pen, his experience riding with industry legends, and how he built his program on the East Coast.

Tune in to hear how he developed his style, what kept him going through injuries and setbacks, and why he’s passionate about showing others that success in this sport can come from anywhere.
