It is important to have a plan and catch your speed coming through the gate. Have a focus and commitment to your run. You want to have your full acceleration reached by the time you hit your timer line. The second principle is to rate your horse for the turn and put them in the athletic position needed to turn it efficiently. Look at your path on the way to the barrel and guide your horse through the turn. Drive to the next barrel. The most important principles are rate, pocket, guide, and drive.
