Up the hay: On winter’s coldest days, give your horses more hay, not more grain. Digesting the roughage in hay creates body warmth, while too much grain can upset a horse’s digestive system, even leading to colic.

Check fence lines: Winter weather is hard on fences. Make sure yours are still horse-safe and secure.
